Shooter of the month

Ryan K. from Texas

” We live on 96 acres in Austin County Texas near the community of Cat Spring. We bought the place in April of 2020 and due to its fairly remote nature and that no permanent residences where within a few miles, the hog problem was serious. Our pasture look like the surface of the moon and my food plots would be trashed in one night.

This particular group I had been targeting a few months and could not get a good pattern until recently. After a 5” rain they were in search of food and in the trap they came, all 35 with one shot outside when I approached.

Since purchasing the Jager Pro system I’ve taken 120 on my land and I also use it in my business, Lone Star Ranch Management for clients. Their we’ve taken another 50 and the clients are impressed with the effectiveness. “

Trapper of the month

Justin M. from Oklahoma

“The feral hog problem was isolated to the river bottom land around here in the 90’s and their numbers and affected land area have exploded since then. I began trapping hogs with homemade trip line traps in the late 90’s and early 2000’s with some pretty good success but was never able to catch complete sounders. I also experimented with continuous catch pens with very little success. The financial losses from damage to cash crops (winter wheat) and grass pastures were increasing each year. I purchased my Jager Pro trap in the mid 2010’s and since using the Jager Pro trap and Mine Camera, I have been able to catch complete sounders of 30 to 40 pigs multiple times as well as difficult to catch single satellite boars. I very rarely move my trap as it is centrally located on a 320 acre farm and I can catch sounders that are moving through the area traveling in about any direction. I have been extremely pleased with the Jager Pro trap and the customer support when it is rarely needed.

The picture that I sent Clint in November was a sounder of 28 pigs. They were doing some damage in grass pasture for about a week prior. I had to rush around and get a new 4G camera shipped out since the 3G service had been discontinued earlier in the year. Clint and the crew got me a new camera and an upgraded control box shipped right out. I caught the sounder within 24 hours of setting up the new camera and gate control box!”

“First and foremost it takes a lot of time and patience to catch a whole sounder. You have to start out slow and condition them to go into the trap, then close the trap, and a little bit more for them to go under the gate constantly. Once they are comfortable going in under the gate you can set the trap. We have found that having 3 more cameras outside the trap around it that it shows us if there’s any extra pigs outside the trap that did not go in with the sounder. If all pigs are in the trap, drop the gate and let the fun begin. We have also found that since we have several sounders coming in one night, it’s best to get the pigs out as quickly and quietly as possible. We use a suppressed 22 long rifle AR which makes it so much fun. We got our trap at the beginning of February 2022 and have trapped 130+ pigs with our first trapping February 19, 2022. We have many more sounders coming each night but want to get them all in the trap before we set the gate. We also like to trap a few sounders then move the trap around as it is very easy to move around with 2 people.

We have enjoyed our Jager Pro trapping system so much and its definitely worth every penny.”

David O. from Georgia

A little about David’s recent capture:

“This was on a 3000 acre farm in Crawford County, Georgia used strictly for deer management. They were having problems with hogs destroying deer feeders and food plots. I went and accessed the land and decided to put the trap at the edge of the food plot that was the most active. I monitored the camera for several days to get a good count of the number of hogs in the group. On the night of Feb 9th, all 33 hogs got into the trap and the rest is history.”

DJ W. from Alabama

” I trap pigs a good bit for a local farmer here in Pike County. They called a few weeks ago and said they were in a different area that he had never had a problem with before. I went and checked the area and pre baited.

Approximately 25 or so found the bait the following night and the trap went up two days later. Due to operator error I missed the drop on the first night with 20 plus hogs inside the trap. They disappeared the next night but returned the following night and everything went as planned. They came in around 1am with no hesitation.”

Trapper of the Month

Stan from Alabama

Stan is a SOD farmer in Alabama. His hogs were coming in early in the morning and he was able to know when they were entering each day. Early in the morning, he accounted for all the hogs and sent the command to drop the gate. He had a second capture the next morning with a single. He successfully eliminated an entire sounder with a bonus the next day. This is our definition of success.

Andrea H from Georgia

“My husband and I own Moosehead Farm in northern Lee County, GA. A Jager Pro trapping system has been employed here on our farm for the last 7 years. There is a significant feral hog population in our area. We find trapping is the most effective method of controlling the population. We set the trap up at a location we refer to as ‘the meat locker’. It is in close proximity to the Muckaloochee Creek and low swampy areas. We have trapped multiple sounders at this location in the past year. Our bounty today is representative of numbers caught here regularly over the last year.”

Trapper of the Month

Casey R. from Louisiana

“Whole sounder of 13 removed 6 days after catching and removing 5 sows. A total of 88 removed off their 70 acres in the same trap location. Tried a homemade coral trap with little luck and got to a point where they were destroying our yard near home and roads. Couldn’t be happier with the ease of this system. We’ll keep doing our part!”

“I live in N. GA mountains – Blairsville. We own a wedding venue here and over past two years hogs have done >$20K damage. Property borders 86,000 acres of National Forest so hogs come and go from there with no regularity. Some long time locals up here have never even seen one and argue they even exist. Bought the trap early 2020 and started process. Some extra challenges here vs. farms down south. First had to find somewhere flat enough to set up that wasn’t in area we use weekly for weddings. Fixed up a site about 300’ from main damage area and fenced that part off w/decorative split rail & electric. Started active pre-baiting and hogs would show up sometimes once a week but as long as month or more between visits. Had a hard time at first getting them to go in so camouflaged trap seams w/unsold Christmas trees donated by local Tractor Supply. Other big challenge is baiting. Started using soured corn scattered inside but raccoons/crows/squirrels etc. clean that out daily. Began burying bigger piles of corn but black bears would dig that up and empty nightly. Found out mixing rice bran w/corn keeps the bears from eating any of it; they’ll dig it up once but not eat or come back regularly.

All this said I caught 3 big boars on 3/8/22. They were separate from main sounder so went ahead & popped/dropped. Kept baiting but due to dead gate battery missed a drop with big group on 4/4/22. Finally this week on 5/10/2022 got the big group (20). I was in Houston, TX on business and triggered the gate from there. Neighbor friend took care of take down.

Thanks Jagerpro for great equipment & support.”

Trapper of the Month

Bill lives in Bethune, SC

“It took 3 weeks of patience waiting on this sounder. The young ones went in but the sows were wary for 3 weeks and waited outside the gate.

They finally committed and the trap was set, ended up with 9 total! Patience paid off!” -Bill

Trapper of the Month

Mickey and Stephanie P. are from Escambia County, FL

“We have trapped approximately 140 hogs on our property and about nine months ago we began to see fewer hogs and they were mostly two or three with no sounders. I had not used the trap for at least nine months but about a month ago we began to see the nine in the picture with two adults on various security cameras. There was no distinct pattern to their movement and sometimes they were over two miles apart between images. Last Thursday, April 11, 2024 I saw them on a clover plot about 11 AM. I went back to my farm office and told my wife, Stephanie. We then checked the camera and gate box for pairing and all was fine. We set the trap and baited with corn and a small amount of hog attractant. Within five hours from leaving the trap site, the nine activated the camera and were well inside the enclosure. The two adults were outside when we dropped the gate. Eight females and one male.” -Mickey
