Fixing Connection Issues with Your Camera
If your camera is having connection issues or fails to wake up, the first step is to check the antenna. Make sure it’s fully inserted and not broken. Paddle antennas can sometimes spin, loosening the wire and causing signal loss. If this happens, try swapping in an antenna from another camera to see if the signal improves. For weak signals, consider using a booster antenna.

Next, check the SIM card. Ensure it is present, fully inserted, and clean. Remove the SIM by pressing it in—the spring mechanism will pop it out. Carefully clean the brass contacts with a pencil eraser, blow off any residue, and reinsert it. If you are in the field, popping the SIM in and out a few times can help scrape the contacts. Testing with a SIM from another camera can also help determine if the card is causing the problem.
If you see errors like “register network failure” or “improper SIM card or APN settings,” you will need to update the APN:
- AT&T Cameras: Setup → Wireless → Diagnostics → APN Settings → change to “APNBR” → save → power cycle.
- Verizon Cameras: Setup → Wireless → Diagnostics → APN Settings → Custom → type “vzwinternet” → save → power cycle.
- Live Stream Cameras: Setup → Wireless → APN Settings → Custom → type “broadband” (AT&T) or “vzwinternet” (Verizon) → save → power cycle.
When typing APN settings on Live Stream cameras, use the arrow keys to move the cursor to the correct letters. Press OK as needed to select each letter, and use “Delete” if you make a mistake.
After updating the APN and confirming the SIM and antenna, most connection issues will be resolved. If the camera still does not respond or signal remains weak, check that the firmware is up to date. Outdated firmware can sometimes prevent the camera from connecting properly.
If you have followed these steps and the camera continues to have problems, contact support. They can guide you through further troubleshooting, including rebooting the SIM card through the carrier if needed.
Properly maintaining your antenna, SIM card, and APN settings ensures your camera runs smoothly and avoids future connection issues.
